2019 Villard Blanc
Once the most planted grape in France, this prolific hybrid was blamed for an over-abundance of wine production (a "lake of wine") in the 1970's. Thousands of acres were ordered to be uprooted and, since 1977, laws have prevented the planting of Villard grapes in France. Evoking comparisons to the better-known Sauvignon Blanc Villard is more rounded with grapefruit-like acidity and a touch of fresh grass.
